Keep what works. Connect what is missing.

When does an independent fraud operation add value?

Your provider’s controls may already handle payment risk well. SENTR adds a configurable operation across the events, entities and systems you connect. Compare that additional value with the cost and work of running it.

  • Honest “may be enough” path
  • Coexistence over forced replacement
  • Shared policy, evidence and investigation

Decision matrix

Compare your current coverage with the decisions, investigations and control changes your team needs.

Stay provider-native

Included controls are probably enough when…

  • One primary processor and one protected journey dominate the risk
  • False-positive and fraud outcomes already match your appetite
  • Investigations and explanations satisfy operators and auditors today
  • No unresolved cross-event or cross-system policy conflict

Consider an independent layer

Fragmentation is the operating problem when…

  • Multiple processors or protected events with inconsistent rules
  • Onboarding, payments, payouts and internal rules decide differently
  • Investigations lack shared entity context and outcome feedback
  • Customer-specific risk appetite cannot be expressed in one place

Architecture: coexistence, not replacement

SENTR does not need to own every score to be useful. Provider tools keep doing their job. When you supply and map their outputs, those results become inputs to your policy — never blindly aggregated into a pretend universal score.

How the layers sit together

  1. Provider / processor controls Method-local scores, 3DS, included rules and declines stay where they already work.
  2. Their output as your input When you map provider scores or rule results into SENTR, they become signals — not a fake universal score across vendors.
  3. Independent decision layer Customer-owned policy across events, entities and investigation — where you need consistent control across those events.
  4. Production still yours Shadow Mode can compare read-only beside the incumbent. Write-back is a later, explicit decision.

When the independent layer earns its keep

Where additional control is needed, SENTR adds customer-owned decision and action policy, event logic and entity context across mapped identifiers, deterministic explanations and investigation workflows, and outcome feedback into improvement — where the deployment supports it. Mapped data, identifiers and ownership are part of the integration plan.

Stay when it fits

One rail. One appetite. No cross-system fight.

A lean commerce team runs almost all volume through one processor. Included rules, 3DS and review queues already match risk appetite. There is no second event estate creating policy conflict.

  1. Single processor
  2. Included rules + 3DS
  3. Matched appetite
  4. No second estate
Response
Keep provider-native controls — do not force an independent layer
Evidence
No operating problem that another platform would fix

If existing controls meet the need, another platform may add more operating cost than value.

Fork when fragmentation is real

Three UIs. One customer. No shared policy.

Registration, wallet checkout and payout each score in different systems. Analysts reconcile identifiers in spreadsheets. Chargebacks do not care which tool was preferred that week.

  1. Registration score
  2. Wallet checkout score
  3. Payout score
  4. Independent layer
Response
Map provider scores into one policy and investigation surface
Evidence
Without claiming native named-processor connectors or ripping out what still works on a single rail
